BURLINGTON VERMONT HYPNOSIS AND EFT

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

Hypnosis is a natural body/mind state that we all experience several times a day. Daydreaming, "road hypnosis" and the relaxed dreamy way we feel as we drift into or out of sleep are all natural states of hypnosis. Scientists measuring the brainwave states we move through during the day have found that the slower alpha and theta brainwaves of hypnosis are also experienced in these sorts of activities. Even the simple act of watching TV can bring a person into a light hypnotic state. (One of the reasons that TV commercials can be so effective!)

In the state of hypnosis, our subconscious mind is open to receiving information, provided that information is given in the language of the subconscious, which is the language of imagination, NOT logic. The subconscious mind is like an automatic pilot, and is the origin of most of our habits, emotions, and beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. This part of our mind also has a profound impact on our body's tendency to be healthy or ill, relaxed or anxious. Communicating effectively with this part of our mind can result in profound and positive changes in our lives.

Most of us have not even begun to recognize and utilize our own ability to use this state of mind to change our lives for the better. When we learn how to enter this state at will, and how to utilize this empowered state of mind to benefit our bodies and minds, wonderful things can occur.

An actual hypnosis session involves deep relaxation to bring the body into a balanced state, releasing many of the everyday tensions we carry around. This deep relaxation helps to quiet the conscious mind, and free up the subconscious mind to receive information more easily. For some people this is a unique and profoundly peaceful experience. Some people find it is like the restful feeling that precedes falling asleep or waking. Others find it is a focused concentration similar to being completely absorbed in a good book. For many it is a familiar feeling, and for others it feels like a unique and brand new experience. Here at Wellspring Hypnotherapy Center, I use specially designed music, and offer the option of rhythmic light technology to assist the process of slipping into this delightful state.
